What is Corrosion?
Corrosion, in its simplest definition, is the unusable of materials due to environmental factors. This situation, which is generally seen in metals or alloys, is due to the chemical reaction of the items and their loss of metallic properties. Corrosion is more likely to occur in humid and polluted weather, salt water and alkaline, acidic and basic environments.
In order for corrosion to occur, there must be a cathode, anode, metallic conduction path and electrolyte, in other words conductive solution. Corrosion is not possible in an environment without these.
Corrosion affects both states and individuals over time. This is inevitable as every material made of metal will corrode. The best examples of the damage caused by corrosion to the states are underground pipes, storage tanks, airports and bridges. When we look at this event in terms of individuals, we see examples such as cars, white goods, metal accessories, water heaters and furniture.

What is Corrosion? Corrosion Tests
It is possible to measure the corrosion resistance of a material with some tests. These tests are in 4 different types: cyclic corrosion test, salt spray test, sulfur dioxide test and moisture test.
Cyclic Corrosion Test
Cyclic corrosion test is a test type in which the resistance of the material against corrosion is observed by providing various corrosive environment conditions in a container.
Salt Spray Test
Salt spray test is the continuous spraying of corrosive salt to the material under ambient conditions with high humidity and a certain temperature.
Sulfur Dioxide Test
The sulfur dioxide test is another of the corrosive tests performed on sulfur dioxide based test molds.
Humidity test is one of the tests applied to see the result of the material in high humidity and hot environment.
